Suleiman Ozakwo, a teacher in Anguwar Baiyi, Toto Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, was plunged into sadness following the killing of his three daughters by a driver, Ya Zakari, who was intoxicated.
In an interview with the Daily Trust, a family member Saidu Alhassan stated that the event took place on Friday, April 12, 2024, near Rafin Kunama, Abaji Road in Toto.
He clarified that the three adolescent sisters, Rumaisa, Maryam, and Nusaiba, left their house as usual to see their uncle’s wife in Sallah, who lived a short distance from the Ohinoyi castle.
“They were walking on the shoulder of the road while coming back from their uncle’s place when a drunk man at speed ran into them with his car, killing them on the spot,” he explained.
According to him, the suspect was caught and brought to the police station. However, a crowd subsequently requested the police for the car he was driving, which they burned on fire.
In an interview with the publication, the father of the slain children, Suleiman Ozakwo, stated that his daughters’ deaths were premature but that he could not hold God accountable for the tragedy. He urged everyone to pray for his daughters’ spirits to continue to rest in peace.
The suspect was taken into custody, according to a police officer who asked to remain anonymous, and he will be charged on Monday, April 15.
