Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that his primary motivation stems from the long-term development of his team, a pursuit he values more than the trophies it produces.
Speaking about his enduring ambition at the club, the Spanish tactician acknowledged his desire to win more major honors but insisted they are not his daily driving force. “Of course I want to win another Premier League at Manchester City, another Champions League, but that’s not the reason I wake up in the morning,” Guardiola stated.
He reflected on the fleeting nature of success, noting that the celebration is often brief. “With the trophy on the highway, in a parade, happy, well done Pep; two days after, ‘What’s next?'” he added, highlighting the immediate pressure to look forward.
For Guardiola, true and lasting fulfillment is found in the continuous journey of construction and refinement. “It’s the process, seeing the team develop, that makes me feel fulfilled,” he explained, defining the core philosophy that underpins his legendary career at Manchester City.
