A suspected one-chance armed robber with a weapon has been taken into custody by Niger State Police Command operating in Suleja.
The command’s spokeswoman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, made this announcement in a statement on Monday, May 6, 2024. He added that the suspect, Kelechi Unanka, stated he got the weapon from a person he couldn’t recall.
“On 04/05/2024 at about 1330hrs, Police patrol team attached to ‘A’ Div Suleja intercepted two persons on a motorcycle at Suleja junction heading to Kaduna road, and on sighting the patrol team, the motorcycle rider zoomed off to escape from the team, while they were pursued,” the statement read.
“Consequently, one of the suspects named Kelechi Unanka, 25yrs of Pape, Abuja was arrested with a bag containing one baretta pistol, with an empty magazine, while the second suspect named Victor (a.k.a Pastor) escaped.
“During interrogation, Kelechi claimed that he received the pistol from someone he could not remember his name, however, the suspect will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]
