Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has named his final 23-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The announcement was made in a pictorial statement, on Tuesday, 11th of March 2025 following the release of a provisional squad of 39 players last week.
These qualifiers will mark Chelle’s debut matches as head coach of the three-time African champions.
The squad, which includes a blend of experienced veterans and fresh talent, is made up of three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards, reflecting Chelle’s strategic approach to the qualifiers.
With high expectations and the goal of securing a spot in the 2026 World Cup, the Super Eagles will be looking to make a strong statement under Chelle’s leadership in their opening fixtures.
The statement reads:
“Goalkeepers: Amas Obasogie, Kayode Bankole, Stanley Nwabali.
“Defenders: Bright Osayi-Samuel, Bruno Onyemaechi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Igoh Ogbu, William Troost-Ekong.
“Midfielders: Alex Iwobi, Alhassan Yusuf, Joe Aribo, Papa Daniel Mustapha, Raphael Onyedika, Wilfred Ndidi.
