A suicide bomber suspected to be linked with Boko Haram unleashed terror at a bustling fish market in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday night, claiming the lives of at least 10 people and leaving seven others wounded.
The explosion tore through the popular evening marketplace, a hub typically teeming with traders and residents from surrounding areas.
Sources within the security network revealed that the attacker blended in with the crowd, posing as an ordinary civilian before setting off the explosive device.
“The suicide bomber also died in the blast,” Makama stated.
“The Nigerian Army troops and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene, and the injured victims were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment.”
Eyewitnesses recounted a terrifying scene filled with confusion, smoke, and despair. Some victims lay still on the ground, while others screamed for help amid the chaos.
Reports indicate that the incident happened at a time when business activities were at their peak in the market.
Military operatives have since sealed off the area to stop any potential threats from other insurgents, according to accounts from security officials.
