STRIKE: Tinubu, Shettima Meets NANS Leadership, Promise To Engage ASUU Directly

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday, 13th of July, 2022 held a meeting with the leadership of the National Association Of Nigerian Students, NANS.

During the meeting held in Osun State, Bola Tinubu promised to intervene in the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Recall that the Varsity teachers have been on strike since the 14th of February, 2022.

Speaking with the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Tinubu said that he initially thought of meeting the striking union using a back channel, but now the president has approved it direct intervention in the ASUU crisis.

According to him “We initially thought of using back channels to engage the leadership of ASUU but now the president Buhari has thrown down the gauntlet and given us the opportunity to direct intervention in the ASUU crisis”
