Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has urged Nigerians to refrain from labeling Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church, Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Christian Centre, and other pastors who supported the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as fake.
In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele emphasized that these pastors should not be blamed for their support, as they simply desired a change in the country.
According to Primate Ayodele, the pastors did not provide prophecies but instead offered declarations and prayers to support Peter Obi. He pointed out that the opposition candidates failed to heed the prophetic guidance they were given to secure victory in the election.
Therefore, the blame should fall on the candidates themselves, rather than the pastors who supported them based on their pastoral callings.
“People should stop attacking men of God who supported Peter Obi for the presidency. You can’t blame them because all they want is change. The country is hard, and they want a change,” Primate Ayodele stated.
He further clarified that the pastors in question did not prophesy for Peter Obi but rather made prophetic declarations. He highlighted the fact that even those pastors who provided prophetic guidance for the opposition candidates were not listened to, rendering it unfair to blame Nigerian pastors for the election outcome.
Primate Ayodele clarified that he was not referring to pastors who predicted that the swearing-in of Tinubu as president would not occur, but rather those who utilized their pastoral platforms to seek support and prayers for Peter Obi.
He explained that there is a distinction between prophetic declarations and prophecies, with the former being an expression of one’s will before the Lord and a pronouncement for God to shift circumstances. He stressed that pastors are not God but were simply advocating for change.
In conclusion, Primate Elijah Ayodele emphasized that Nigerians should desist from blaming pastors for the country’s situation and political outcomes. Instead, he encouraged the public to understand that the pastors who supported Peter Obi did so out of a genuine desire for change in the nation’s affairs.
