Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU led by it’s National President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, on Monday, met on the lingering payment platform issue between the varsity union and the Nigeria Federal Government.
The speaker who took to his verified Facebook handle shared some photos and videos from the meeting stated that the Accountant-General of the Federation was also part of the meeting in order to find a lasting solution to the lingering impasse.
Gbajabiamila revealed that the meeting’s purpose was to find a solution and to reach an agreement on the implementation of the peculiarities of the lecturers into the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS which is a critical aspect of the agreement that led to the suspension of ASUU’s eight-month strike.
It was recalled that earlier this year, February 14th, 2022, the varsity teachers embarked on warning over federal government failure to meet demands. The strike however tarry till October 13th, when agreement was reach to some certain levels, the union suspended the strike conditionally.
