The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has led an awareness march across major streets of Abuja, the nation’s capital, against gender based violence in commemoration of this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Hundreds of participants, including lawmakers and members of the public, took part in the walk, marching from the National Assembly to the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force.
The House of Representatives had previously on Saturday announced plans to hold an awareness march through the major streets of Abuja, the nation’s capital, as part of their commitment to combating all forms of gender-based violence.
The demonstration of support for victims of gender-based violence in the country culminated with the House of Representatives submitting a petition to the Inspector General of Police. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
