The renowned Yoruba actor Olaiya Igwe, better known by his stage as Ebun Oloyede, has publicly apologized to Nigerians for his nude beachside campaigning photo op in support of Bola Tinubu.
The actor claimed to have had a spiritual revelation about Tinubu, which motivated his acts, in a since-deleted video that he posted on his Instagram account on Monday.
Igwe expressed his support for Tinubu in the video, citing the politician’s help, especially with health-related issues, as the cause.
Speaking in Yoruba, Olaiya said, “Because of things he has done for me, health-wise, and I received a revelation to pray for him at the beach, which I did.
“I was criticised and cursed after I did, but I didn’t care. I wasn’t annoyed with him (Tinubu), and neither did I react negatively to him. I knew the criticism was inevitable because I am a much-loved actor.
“People who didn’t expect my actions must have been shocked, wondering why I did what I did. I know the criticism would have come from Bola Tinubu’s rival parties.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]
