Temilade Openiyi, a popular Grammy-award-winning singer, professionally known as Tems, has recounted her time in a Ugandan prison, describing it as an unexpected chance for personal development.
Reflecting on her experience, the Nigerian singer said the ordeal allowed her to gain insight into the lives of prisoners.
Tems admitted that without going through it herself, she wouldn’t have understood the struggles prisoners faced.
Tems said this during an interview with ES magazine shared on their Instagram page on Thursday, 6th of June, 2024.
Quoting the singer, ES Magazine wrote:
“Prison was once in a lifetime experience that I actually feel honoured to have had because otherwise, I would never have thought about these people, and to be in their presence was very humbling.
