Singer Portable, Speed Darlington boast of skills ahead of boxing bout in Lagos

Nigerian Controversial music stars Portable and Speed Darlington are set to clash in a boxing match today, April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Lagos.

Billed as “Chaos In The Ring,” the bout follows a fiery weigh-in session that saw the two artistes exchanging verbal jabs and nearly coming to blows before security intervened.

The tension between the duo reportedly stems from a booking dispute. Speed Darlington had invited Portable to perform at his event, offering him N500,000—a fee Portable considered disrespectful, claiming he charges N20 million per show.

“You are inviting me to a show, and you don’t have money. You are using my name to promote your show. I charge ₦20 million per performance—ask around!” Portable, also known as the Zeh Nation boss, fired back in a viral video.

“You’re offering me ₦500k, for what? I don’t want to be friends with poor people. I didn’t know he is that poor.”

This sparked a fierce reaction from Darlington, who regretted reaching out and accused Portable of disrespecting him and his mother.

“Why did I bring myself low? Why did I contact Portable? I regret it because why the insults? Why did my mother get into the discussion?” Darlington lashed out.

During the weigh-in, Portable boasted about his fighting prowess.

Speed Darlington responded with equal ferocity, saying, “You can’t beat me, let’s go now! Nothing can happen. I will take your belt home with me.”
