Singer Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold (AG Baby) is marking World Sickle Cell Day by launching the “5 Star Care” initiative, through his charity, the Adekunle Gold Foundation (AGF).
According to him, this is a personal promise to support individuals living with sickle cell disease.
In partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Sickle Cell Management Initiative, the initiative will provide free health insurance to 1,000 people in Lagos State affected by the condition.
This effort builds on his previous endeavors, including a medical outreach that provided aid to over 300 people with sickle cell disease and a scholarship program for individuals with the condition to study music business.
As someone who has lived with sickle cell anemia since birth, Adekunle Gold’s commitment to this cause is deeply personal.
He has spoken publicly about the challenges of managing the condition, from experiencing intense pain crises to feeling isolated due to misunderstandings about the disease.
He said:
“Today is World Sickle Cell Day. And today, I’m proud to announce something that’s deeply personal to me.
“5 Star Care isn’t just an initiative, it’s a promise. A promise to make sure that sickle cell warriors are seen, heard, and cared for.
