Scores of Ogoni youths today staged a protest at the Rivers State Police Command, the Department of State Services, and the Government House over alleged killings by suspected herdsmen.
Leader of the protesting youths, Mr. Oscar Saviour-Imeabe, expressed concern that no arrests have been made in connection with the killing of one Goodluck Dimkpa in Uwike, Tai Local Government Area. Saviour-Imeabe warned that Ogoni youths may be forced to take the law into their own hands if urgent action is not taken to address their concerns.
He also outlined other demands relating to the growing activities of suspected herdsmen in Ogoni communities.
Responding on behalf of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Iyke Okoro, assured the protesters that the police have already swung into action to ensure justice is served. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
