Two Nigerian teen sisters, identified as Aisha Mohammed, 18, and 17-year-old Zainab Mohammed, have dr%wned while swimming at Coney Island beach in Brooklyn, United States, US.
The tragic incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Friday, 5th of July, 2024.
According to their family, the teenagers ‘just wanted to have their last swim,’ when they sadly dr%wned.
They had jumped into the ocean for their last swim of the day when they vanished, heartbroken family members told the newsmen.
Witnesses say it happened when it started raining and everyone on the beach ran for cover by the restrooms. The two teens decided to go back into the ocean. According to witnesses, a man tried to stop them but he apparently couldn’t swim either.
They were found on the shoreline at 9:15 p.m. and rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where they were pronounced d£ad, the NYPD said.
“They were just trying to have fun out there,” the girls’ uncle Tahir Mohammed, 48, told the newsmen. “They thought they were just gonna have their last swim and come out.”
It was only their second time going to the beach, Mohammad added.
Lifeguards at the beach are on duty between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., according to the city’s Department of Parks. Swimming is not allowed outside of those hours. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
