Fire gutted a section of a popular five-storey In Balogun Market, Lagos building in the Balogun Market, Lagos Island, in the early hours of Tuesday, leading to the loss of properties worth millions of naira.
The cause of the inferno could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report. Also, there was no causality recorded, FreshReporters gathered.
Meanwhile, the state emergency responder, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, has revealed that the heavy fire is under control in a statement signed by the Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret.
The statement said, “Fire at Balogun Under Control. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to a fire outbreak at the famous Balogun Market which involved the topmost floor of a five-storey building.
“The fire is however under control as mitigation is on to limit its spread update to follow as the situation unfolds.”
