The Rivers state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara says those seeking to remove him as governor of the state have failed, saying he’s the winner in the political crisis that has engulfed the state in the recent days.
The governor has been involved in a rift with his predecessor, who’s also the current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The feud in the last three months has led to different turns of events in the state, with 27 lawmakers believed to be loyal to Wike decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a similar vein, the state’s House of Assembly complex was also demolished, with an impeachment plot against the sitting governor, Fubara.
Fubara, who spoke at a crossover church service at St Paul’s Archdeaconry Parish in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of the state, said he’s still with the red biro.
His words:
“I want to urge every one of us here, don’t be frightened. What they want is this red biro, but it is still with me, they have failed.
“You are the winner, we are the winners because we are still signing with the red biro, and so long as we are signing with the red biro, development will continue in Rivers State.
“2024 will witness unprecedented heights in our state, the only thing we are asking from every one of you is your support, prayers, also belief in every decision that we take. We are not going to throw any of you under the bus.
