Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN, the leader of the legal team assembled by Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, has claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC attempts to wipe off voting evidence in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS by its request to reconfigure the machine ahead of the forthcoming elections .
The Senior Advocate is Nigeria disclosed this in a statement while speaking with the newsmen on Tuesday.
According to him, he experienced such incident in Osun State when the elections results were not probably document into the BVAS machine.
He said, “My experience in the Osun State election is that the first upload at the backend server did not contain all the information and we had to go into the BVAS machine with the permission of the Tribunal to ascertain that there was no overvoting.
“INEC intends to reconfigure the BVAS machine and what that means is they intend to wipe off the physical accreditation data captured for the presidential election which is the most important part of the election process.”
Meanwhile, the Appellate Court, Abuja has fixed today, Wednesday to consider the merit of the application INEC filed to be allowed to reconfigure the BVAS machine.
Governorship and other house of assembly elections comes up this weekend.
