Ramadan: Food Prices Are Now Lower, Bringing Relief to the Fasting Population and All Nigerians — Tinubu Boasts

President Bola Tinubu on Friday asserted that food prices are now declining, offering relief to fasting Muslims during Ramadan despite soaring inflation and worsening economic conditions under his administration.

Tinubu, whose removal of fuel subsidies and naira devaluation have pushed millions into deeper poverty, insisted that his policies were yielding positive results.

He claimed Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) had improved and essential food items were becoming more affordable.

“The once-soaring prices of essential food items are now trending downward, providing much-needed relief to our fasting population and all Nigerians,” Tinubu declared, despite widespread reports of rising food costs and economic hardship.

In a message to the Muslim community, he urged self-discipline and generosity during Ramadan and reassured Nigerians of his government’s commitment to food security.

“As the wet season approaches, we remain steadfast in boosting agricultural productivity. We are determined to enhance food production and ensure food security for all Nigerians,” he said.

However, Tinubu’s claims stand in stark contrast to the realities Nigerians face daily. The prices of staple foods like rice, garri, and beans have surged, while the naira’s continued depreciation has driven inflation higher.
