Carnegie Mellon University in the United States of American, where Uju Anya, the Nigerian-born professor, works has distanced itself from her recent tweet pertaining to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
While the Queen Elizabeth II was under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Scotland yesterday (Thursday), Anya, had in her twitter handle, expressed her wish for the queen to experience ‘excruciating’ pain.
She shared this in a tweet, and which has now been deleted by Twitter platform for violating its rules.
It was noted that Her tweet stirred up different reactions from netizens on twitter platform. Jeff Bezos, the billionaire, also slammed her for it.
However, her university on Thursday described Anya’s tweet as “offensive and objectionable” and she had distanced itself from it.
The terse tweet states, “We do not condone the offensive and objectionable messages posted by Uju Anya today on her personal social media account. Freedom of expression is core to the mission of higher education, however, the views she shared absolutely do not represent the values of the institution, nor the standards of discourse we seek to foster.”
