In a grandiose ceremony held at the Kremlin on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin took the oath of office for a record-breaking fifth term, giving him unprecedented authority.
Since the year 2000, the 71-year-old has controlled Russia. In March, he won presidential elections with no opposition and was re-elected for a six-year term.
Putin won the 2024 election with 87.28% of the vote, with the election turnout at a historic high of 77.44%.
