The Labour Party encountered a significant setback as the Bashiru Lamidi Apapa faction of the party was disgracefully denied entry into the premises of the Presidential Election Petition Court. This incident took place on a Wednesday morning and added to the growing tensions within the party.
Earlier, it was gathered by FRESHREPORTERS that Apapa’s faction and the suspended National Chairman of the party, Mr Julius Abure, clashed during the court proceedings. The confrontation further intensified the already tense atmosphere surrounding the party’s internal conflicts.
In a striking blow to the factions involved, the court outrightly dismissed the claims made by both factions regarding the party’s national leadership.
This decision served as a significant setback for the Apapa faction, which had attempted to assert its representation during the ongoing court hearing.
Addressing the matter on their official Twitter handle, the Labour Party asserted that the Apapa faction’s intention was to disrupt the court proceedings.
The tweet read, “Lamidi Apapa, the rebellious former Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, made good on his threat to disrupt the Presidential Election Tribunal. He tried to present himself as a representative of @NgLabour during the ongoing hearing but was staunchly refused by the Tribunal. As a result, he faced a thorough disgrace.”
The incident at the Presidential Election Petition Court marks a troubling development for the Labour Party, further exacerbating the existing turmoil within its ranks.
It remains to be seen how the party will navigate these challenges and restore stability to its internal affairs.
