President Tinubu urges State Govts to prioritize local communities

The Nigeria President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on State Governments to prioritise the local communities in their various states.

The President stated this while receiving the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Thursday, 30th of May, 2024.

He said the call was necessary to ensure accountability and effectiveness in the administration of local governments.

According to him,

“Dear brothers and sisters, yes i am in charge here today but we are running a constitutional democracy and i will appeal to you to summon the governors. I am doing my best to improve the revenue of the country and giving them their dues but they must equally be sympathetic to the populace and they must consider the need of the local people, people residing in the local governments.

“Leaders, don’t hang onto the number, we have 774 local governments, it is just a number; is it effective? Is it reaching the real people. Who is been held accountable for this money? Maybe we should rethink and recaliberate what version that was good four years ago might not be good today.

“When we want the votes, we go to the locals, when we get the votes we move to Abuja. I think we have to collectively join hands, get us a committee of people that can really embark on the campaign of our value to change. my brothers and sisters, it is disheartening watching the TV and seeing the number of people in IDPs, no sincere leader in this country would be happy seeing that.

“We have to put together to rescue Nigeria from banditry, yes we know we are making progress but we want to eliminate that one completely.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
