President Tinubu Presents Educational Records, Other Documents At Election Tribunal

President Bola Tinubu has submitted copies of his educational records from Chicago State University as part of his defense in the ongoing petition by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

In addition, his lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), presented a 2007 letter from the United States Embassy in Nigeria, which exonerates Tinubu of any criminal liability in the United States. The letter of request from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to the US Embassy was also tendered.

Jamar C. Orr, the Associate General Counsel, Office of the Legal Affairs at Chicago State University, certified the academic records consisting of 12 documents on June 28, 2023. These documents will help substantiate Tinubu’s educational background.

Furthermore, six copies of documents concerning immigration and visa records for Tinubu’s trips to the United States between 2011 and 2021 were also presented as evidence. These documents are expected to provide additional clarity and context to support Tinubu’s case.

President Tinubu’s legal team is actively defending against the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, who have raised concerns regarding his eligibility for the presidency.

The presentation of these records and documents is seen as a significant step in Tinubu’s defense, as they aim to establish his educational qualifications and affirm his legal standing in the United States.

The proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Court continue, and both sides are expected to present their arguments and evidence to support their respective positions. The court will thoroughly examine the materials presented and make a judgment based on the evidence and applicable laws.
