Sources familiar with the outcome of the meeting revealed that Tinubu offered Kwankwaso the opportunity to choose between two key ministerial roles: the Ministry of Agriculture or the Ministry of Education.
The decision regarding whether Kwankwaso will accept a ministerial position himself or delegate the opportunity to one of his loyalists is yet to be known.

Accompanying Tinubu and Kwankwaso at the meeting were other notable figures, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, and Sen Oluremi Tinubu.

Discussions revolved around their longstanding friendship, the importance of national unity, development priorities, National Assembly contests, and Tinubu’s vision for a government of national unity, to which Kwankwaso has expressed interest in joining.

Additionally, Tinubu hinted at the possibility of reconciling the strained relationship between the outgoing Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Kwankwaso.
The deteriorating relationship between the two political figures stemmed from Ganduje’s succession as governor.

Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election, despite Kwankwaso winning Kano State, highlights the strategic significance of maintaining positive relations in the North West region, from which Tinubu garnered over 30% of his total votes.

While the details of Kwankwaso’s meeting with former Emir Sanusi remain undisclosed, it is believed to be related to recent political developments in Kano, particularly concerning the dethronement of Sanusi as Emir of Kano.

Kwankwaso played a pivotal role in Sanusi’s appointment as the Emir, fostering a longstanding relationship between the two.

Speculations suggest that the Governor-elect, Abba Yusuf, may revisit Sanusi’s dethronement.

President-elect Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria ahead of his inauguration on May 29, having engaged in productive discussions and sought support from influential figures in Kano.

The outcome of Kwankwaso’s decision regarding the ministerial options presented by Tinubu remains eagerly awaited, as it could shape the future government under Tinubu’s leadership.
