Pres. Tinubu condemns wave of v!olence across the country, orders manhunt against perpetrators

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over a series of deadly incidents that have rocked several parts of Nigeria in recent days, including a suicide bombing in Borno, the lynching of travellers in Plateau, and an explosion in Kano.

In a statement he signed on Sunday, the President described the attacks as “unconscionable” and declared that such acts of violence against innocent citizens “must not stand.”

Reacting to the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, which claimed several lives, Tinubu said the assault was a “cowardly attempt to spread fear.”

He disclosed that he has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide immediate support to survivors, while extending condolences to the government and people of Borno.

He further charged security forces to intensify efforts to track down the remnants of Boko Haram and crush their ability to stage diversionary attacks on soft targets.

Condemning the killing of 12 wedding guests in Plateau State, Tinubu called the act “barbaric” and ordered the Nigerian Police Force, alongside other security and intelligence agencies, to apprehend those responsible without delay.

“These killings must not go unanswered,” he declared, urging the Plateau State Government to work decisively with security agencies to end the cycle of violence and use the incident as a deterrent.

The President reiterated that freedom of movement is a non-negotiable right of every Nigerian, warning that the federal government will not tolerate any attempts to infringe on that right through violence or intimidation.

Addressing the deadly explosion at a scrap metal facility in Kano, which claimed five lives, Tinubu extended sympathies to the affected families and called for stricter enforcement of safety standards at workplaces. He has ordered an investigation into the cause of the incident and directed relevant agencies to take measures to prevent future occurrences.

“To the people of Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kaduna States, I stand with you in grief and in resolve,” Tinubu said.

“We will not rest until justice is served and peace and safety are restored across our land.”
