President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Tokyo, Japan, in the early hours of Monday, 18th of August 2025, ahead of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).
His aircraft landed at Haneda Airport around 1 a.m., where he was received by Ambassador Hideo Matsubara, Japan’s envoy for the conference. The summit will hold in Yokohama from August 20 to 22.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu will participate in plenary sessions and also hold bilateral meetings with Japanese government officials.
He is scheduled to engage with business leaders whose companies have investments in Nigeria, as part of efforts to strengthen economic ties between both countries.
After his engagements in Japan, the Nigerian leader will travel to BrasÃlia for a two-day state visit from Sunday, August 24, to Monday, August 25, at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The visit is expected to focus on trade, diplomacy, and expanding Nigeria–Brazil relations.
