The Premier League on Thursday, 12th of October, 2023, expressed sympathy for the victims of Israel-Gaza conflict, calling for peace to prevail between partiies involved.
The league will observe a moment of silence and have players wear black armbands during matches scheduled from Saturday, 21st of October to Monday, 23rd of October, 2023 as a gesture of their solemn condolences.
In an announcement posted on its official X handle #premierleague, the League revealed that its intention is to pay respect to the victims of the Israel-Gaza conflict.
It wrote:
āThe Premier League is shocked and saddened by the escalating crisis in Israel and Gaza, and strongly condemns the horrific and brutal acts of violence against innocent civilians. We hope for peace, and our heartfelt sympathies are with the victims, their families and the communities impacted.”
“As a mark of respect for all those affected, Premier League players, managers and match officials will wear black armbands and observe a momentās silence at the fixtures taking place from Saturday 21 to Monday 23 October.
