Police Inspector killed, DPO Injured, In Clash With Okada Riders In Lagos State

The police force has revealed that a clash between commercial motorcycle riders popularly known as ‘Okada’ and policemen has led to the death of a policeman at Cele bus stop, Lagos State.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, made this known through an update he shared via his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

According to him, the two police officers were attacked while enforcing the existing motorcycle ban in parts of Lagos State.

He stressed that the tragic occurrence resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the impoundment of forty-one motorcycles.

He wrote,

“While enforcing the existing ban on the use of motorcycles in parts of Lagos State, Police Officers of Isolo Division came under attack from motorcycle riders at Cele bus-stop, resulting in the death of one Police Inspector & serious injury to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).”

‘Two suspects have been arrested while forty-one motorcycles were impounded. The Lagos State Police Command will not be deterred from carrying out its mandate of enforcing duly established laws.”

“Citizens are urged to remain law-abiding, as riders and passengers alike arrested on prohibited routes will face the law. Above all, any form of attack on Police Officers will no longer be tolerated!”
