The Delta State Police Command has deployed 11,000 operatives in the state ahead of the governorship and House of Assembly elections slated for 18th of March, 2023.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police for South-South, Moses Jitoboh, revealed this at a news briefing on Thursday, 16th of March, 2023 in Asaba, the state capital of Delta.
He noted that the 11,000 security personnel ahead of the poll would be supported by another batch of 4,000 operatives from sister security agencies, like the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Army, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Nigeria Immigration Service, Freshreporters gathered.
According to, Jitoboh he said, “We are here for the March 18 governorship and state House of Assembly elections, and as we all know, the security of lives and property is of utmost concern.
“Our mission and responsibility are to ensure that a peaceful and secure atmosphere prevails in Delta before, during, and after the elections.
“We enjoin residents of the state to come out and exercise their civic responsibility without fear of intimidation and violence.
“As professionals, we are here to serve everybody, we are not assigned to anybody, political party or interest. We will do our job diligently and I can assure you that the police will live up to its responsibilities.”
