Police Cracks Down on Oil Theft, Arrest 40 Suspects, Seize Vessels

Tantita Security Services, one of the Private Security Contractors (PSCs) hired by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has arrested forty (40) suspected individuals over involvement in illegal oil theft.

During the joint operation with operatives of the Nigerian police, two (2) vessels involved in the illegal activities were also seized.

The interceptions took place at the Ogbogoro Oil Field in Brass Area and the Ekeni Area of Southern-Ijaw in Bayelsa State.

The suspects face charges including conspiracy, tampering with oil pipelines, illegal transportation and dealing in crude oil without lawful authority or appropriate licenses.

The suspects have undergone a comprehensive investigation since their apprehension, and a prima facie case has been made against them.

They are scheduled to appear in court to answer to accusations of oil theft and economic sabotage. As additional evidence against the individuals, the boats utilized in the illicit activities have been seized. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
