The Ekiti State Police Command has detained one of its officers following a disturbing allegations that the officer stabbed a civilian during a confrontation in Ise-Ekiti, an altercation reportedly sparked by a dispute between schoolchildren.
The incident, which gained traction after a video surfaced online, features the victim’s daughter narrating an account where her father was stabbed by a police officer, allegedly serving as an orderly to a chairman, after a quarrel broke out between her younger brother and a female classmate.
According to her, the girl involved in the initial disagreement reported the matter to her boyfriend. He allegedly showed up at their residence with two police officers under the guise of making an arrest, only for the situation to spiral into violence.
Reacting swiftly to the public outcry, the Ekiti State Police Command confirmed on Friday that the accused officer has been taken into custody.
In a statement on Friday, 11th of April 2025, Police Public Relations Officer, Abutu Sunday stated that the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has assigned the case to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department for a full-scale probe.
The statement reads:
“The Ekiti State Police Command has noticed a video circulating on the social media where a young girl was complaining that his father was stabbed on his palm by a Policeman serving in Ise-Ekiti due to an argument that ensued between her brother and the Policeman’s girlfriend.
“The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP JOSEPH ERIBO, upon noticing the complaint, directed the DC CID to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation is conducted.
“Meanwhile, the officer in question has been taken into custody for investigation and other necessary actions.
“The Command is calling on everyone especially the family members of the victim to be calm, as nothing short of justice will be delivered in this case as soon as possible.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
