Police Arrest Four Impostors Posing As Soldiers, Seize Ammunition In Lagos Raid

Four people have been taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command for reportedly masquerading themselves as army officers on February 19, 2024.

The four suspects, Ben Okafor, Darlington Iheanacho, Jonathan Yahaya, and Mohammed Umar, were apprehended after conducting sting operations throughout the state, according to information obtained on Wednesday from a law enforcement source.

According to the source, Okafor and Iheanacho were taken into custody at Aina Street on Monday night at around 10:30 p.m.

According to the source, Okafor—who had described himself as a corporal in the Nigerian Army—and Iheanacho were apprehended carrying jackknives during a fight with a man only known as Oludotun.

Oludotun was believed to be an accomplice of the two, however the police had not yet determined the full degree of his involvement in the alleged crime.

When some police officers arrived on the scene and began questioning the two suspects, it was reported that they had been found in possession of pepper spray, a jackknife, and a forged Nigerian Army identity card with Corporal Geoffrey Emmanuel’s serial number on it.

The police source said, “Okafor, who claimed to be a Corporal in the Nigerian Army, was seen with a jack knife alongside one Darlington Chidebere Iheanacho fighting one Oludotun. The latter reported that the soldier was chasing him with a jack knife and threatened to kill him.
