Police Arrest Female Kidnap Ringleader In Ebonyi, Rescue 6 Abducted Children

The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has rescued six children from kidnappers den.

The police also stated that they detained the leader of the infamous kidnapping group, which was known for snatching children from their parents throughout the state.

A statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, says on January 21, 2024, one Nkwuda Francis reported to the Command that a woman, initially identified as Mercy Francis, parading herself as a youth corps member, had kidnapped two young children from his house in Nwezenyi Igbeagu, Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State after she rented a room in the compound.

DSP Ukandu stated that the children, aged three and seven, respectively, were later found to have been taken by one Ngozi Blessing Abia, which was revealed to be the suspect’s true identity.

“Following a diligent investigation by officers attached to the Gender Unit of the Command, the suspect was located in Oba, Anambra State, where the children were rescued and returned to their family,” he stated.

According to DSP Ukandu, two women whose children were kidnapped in Ohaozara LGA of the State, Mrs. Lovina Iwuorah and Mrs. Ndifereke Wisdom Clement, recognized the suspect as the mastermind behind the loss of their three children, who were between the ages of one and three.

Officers discovered the kids in an orphanage in Benin City after conducting an inquiry there. The orphanage’s owner has been taken into custody and is giving the police important information. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
