Officers of the Lagos state police Command conducted a thorough surveillance on Harmony Estate, Aboru, Lagos, after residents of area repeatedly complained about the mischievous behavior of young men who congregated around the estate’s entrance at night and in the morning, gambling, selling and smoking hard drugs, harassing and obstructing residents’ freedom of movement, and extorting passersby.
It was gathered that the miscreants were apprehended. approximately 0800 hours on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Following the arrest of eight suspects carrying what were believed to be heavy drugs, other miscreants blocked the road and asked that their fellows be released before the police could leave the area. The criminals attacked the officers as well, but the officers managed to take the suspects and evidence to the station after calling for and receiving reinforcement.
Subsequent inquiries conducted at the station showed that four out of the eight people detained were not guilty. The four that were found guilty included, Afolabi Joshua “m,” age 24, Isaiah Omogbolahan “m,” age 25, Oluwadamilare Kayode “m,” age 38, and Friday Anamaliu “m,” age 40.
The suspects were arraigned at Ejigbo Magistrate judge on March 1, 2024, and the judge remanded them in jail custody until till March 25, 2024.
News making the rounds that the suspects were arrested for playing Ludo game are entirely false and only brought up by some of the miscreants, who managed to escape, in a bid to change the narrative and divert attention from the real issues, the police command stated. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
