Dino Melaye, Democratic Party governorship candidate of Kogi state has reacted to the allegation that he did not go out and cast his vote at the just concluded election. #KogiDecides2023
Mr Melaye, who refused to state if he went out to vote on election day, said that no laws made voting mandatory.
“The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status; people win elections from prison, so if we want to go into issues about this election, the processes the conclusion, instead of buying time discussing issues that has no relevance to the election, whether i voted or not is immaterial because there is no legal status for the weather you voted or not I say people who are even in prison, win elections from prison,” Melaye said.
Melaye, who performed woefully in the governor’s election, is said not to have taken part in the electoral process for fear of what he claimed was a flawed balloting.
However, Melaye, who addressed the press at his home, cried foul, accusing the Yahaya Bello-led All Progressives Congress of conspiring with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to rig the election in favour of Usman Ododo.
In spite of an initial cancellation of 59 polling stations’ results, the election overseer still declared Odod to have won.
Ododo polled a total of 446,237 votes to defeat the Social Democratic Party, which polled a total of 259,052 votes, and Melaye, who came a distance third with 46,362…[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>
