The Abia state Pensioners has on Wednesday 27th of April, Protested over the non-payment of their pensions and gratuities by the State Government.
Emeka Okezie, the group coordinator lamented that even with the ones they were paid, it is quarter of their salaries. According to him , “We have no money to buy drugs, especially our diabetic and hypertensive pensioners.”
Commissioner of finance, Dr. Aham Uko, Responding on the path of the state government blamed the advances on the prevalent “economic downturn” facing the world and also hitting the country, Nigeria which has in a turn grab down nation wealth.
