The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has stirred online discussion after offering marital advice regarding financial roles when a wife earns significantly more than her husband.
Speaking during a recent service, Enenche addressed scenarios where the wife’s income far exceeds the husband’s. He emphasized that a man earning ₦100,000 monthly should not feel compelled to depend on his wife’s ₦1 million salary to cover household expenses.
“If your wife earns ₦1 million a month while you earn ₦100k, don’t expect her to use her ₦1 million to take care of the family. Instead, you can split your ₦100k and give her ₦50k she will value your ₦50k more than her ₦1 million,” he stated.
The pastor highlighted that responsible and intentional contribution holds greater significance than the amount earned. He encouraged husbands to willingly share a portion of their income with their wives, regardless of how modest it may seem.
“If you earn ₦100,000, split it. Give your wife ₦50,000 or ₦60,000,” Enenche advised. “That money will mean more to her than her own ₦1 million.”
He explained that such acts deepen emotional connection in marriage, as money given by a husband carries symbolic weight representing care, leadership, and dedication.
Enenche further noted that demonstrating responsibility despite limited resources fosters respect and affection, adding that financial progress will follow in due course.
The message has drawn mixed reactions on social media, with some commending the pastor for encouraging dignity and responsibility in marriage, while others questioned the practicality of the advice given current economic challenges.
