A pastor from Delta State has been arrested by the Bayelsa State Police Command over allegations of conspiring to murder a fellow prophet in what is believed to be a dispute over congregants and church assets.
According to police sources, Pastor Elijah Oro reportedly engaged a 21-year-old member of the notorious Greenlanders cult, Samuel Daniel, to execute the attack.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Mohammed, confirmed the arrests by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit following actionable intelligence.
DSP Mohammed stated, “On January 28, 2026, at about 10:35 hours, SWAT operatives arrested Samuel Daniel, 21, of Nembe Ogbolomabiri, and Pastor Elijah Oro, 59, of Ozoro Community, Delta State, in connection with an alleged plot to kill a prophet.”
Preliminary findings indicate that Samuel Daniel was apprehended on the targeted prophet’s premises. He allegedly confessed to being a Greenlanders cult member and claimed he was hired by Pastor Oro to carry out the assassination. The police are continuing their investigation to fully establish the motive behind the alleged plot.
