The Oyo state Police command have discovered what is suspected to be diesel fuel in a well located in the Omikunle area of Yemetu, Ibadan.
Acting on a tip received on 6th of September 2025 officers responded to the scene and found residents attempting to retrieve the liquid, believed to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
To prevent any safety hazards, armed police and local security personnel quickly secured the area.
The Oyo State Ministry of Environment has been notified and is now responsible for the safe removal and disposal of the substance.
Authorities have called for calm and are continuing to investigate the matter. They also urged residents to remain vigilant.
