Troops of Nigerian Army operating under Operation Forest Sanity III have carried out a major fighting patrol across Zamfara, Kebbi, and Niger states, leading to the neutralisation of several terrorists and the destruction of 18 motorcycles used by the armed groups.
Operation Forest Sanity is a military campaign led by the Nigerian Army to flush out terrorists and armed criminals from forested strongholds in the North-West region.
The operation, which began on 22 July 2025, saw troops move from Maru Local Government Area in Zamfara, through Kaboro and Sangeko, to Makuku and Dankolo in Kebbi State, acting “based on intel on terrorist movement,” the Army said.
The patrol later linked up with personnel at Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Rijau and Warari, Niger State, where troops engaged the terrorists in what the Army described as a “firefight”, resulting in multiple casualties on the enemy’s side.
The statement confirmed that “18 motorcycles were destroyed. AK-47 rifles loaded with magazines were recovered.
“One soldier paid the supreme price.”
