Justice Ezekiel Enang of Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Etinan Local Government Area has sentenced a commercial motorcyclist, popular known as ‘okada rider’ Moses Edo, of age 37, to death by hanging for killing his father, Abdon Edo, over landed property.
The Akwa-ibom judge held that the convict, an indigene of Ikot Ukobo in Nsit Ubium LGA, confessed in the statement he wrote to have single-handedly killed his father in broad daylight on the 29th of July, 2015, in his house and buried him.
Justice Enang said, “The convict, who is the first son of the deceased confessed to pursuing his father to the backyard of his old building and hit his head on the wall where he died on the spot over landed property.”
During the hearing, the court noted that the culprit smashed the head of his father on the wall, the convict had intended to kill him.
The judge found Moses guilty of killing and ruled that he should be hanged or a lethal substance injected inside him until he is dead.
According to report gathered by freshreporters, the case, which was prosecuted by the State Ministry of Justice and defended by the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, has finally laid to rest, eight years of prosecution of the matter at the trial court of Akwa ibom.
