On Saturday, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, a leader of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo (the top Igbo cultural and social group), announced that it was time for Igbos to slowly pull out their businesses from other regions and move them back to the South-East.

Isiguzoro responded to a viral online video that showed distressed Igbo traders at the Trinity spare parts market in Apapa, Lagos on February 1st, 2024. These individuals were expressing their frustration about being unable to recover their goods and products.

Isiguzoro expressed a disheartening sentiment as he meticulously documented the systematic demolition of markets in Lagos State, which were predominantly occupied by Igbo people.

He further commented that the peculiar structures of these demolitions are carefully scrutinized by the body.

The Secretary General of Ohanaeze faction expressed regret over the deployment of state resources to target peaceful Igbo merchants in Lagos State.

Isiguzoro suggests that in view of the troubling occurrences, Ndigbo should recognize the need to slowly withdraw and redirect their commerce towards home.

The Secretary-General of the faction urged President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to take swift action and prevent any potential demolitions.

Furher speaking he said: “The relentless targeting of Igbo traders and their businesses under the guise of development is unacceptable.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo implores Igbo traders to relocate the headquarters of their businesses to Igbo land to avoid further complications arising from future market demolitions.

“We fervently urge President Tinubu and the Governor of Lagos State to demonstrate true leadership by intervening decisively to protect the rights and interests of all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity.”..[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>
