Ohanaeze Group Affirms Support for President-Elect Tinubu, Says Peter Obi Should Accept Defeat

• The group has affirmed its support for President-elect Tinubu, calling on all stakeholders to be careful of their utterances and not portray Ndigbos as being against him.

• The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, emphasized the need to build bridges ahead of the next election and charged Obi to start doing so.

The Ohanaeze socio-cultural organization has reaffirmed its support for President-elect Bola Tinubu and called on all stakeholders to be mindful of their utterances and not portray Ndigbos as being against him.

The group’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, made the statement in response to a call against Tinubu by a group known as the Igbo Patriotic Forum and Elders Forum.

The group had said Tinubu should not be inaugurated until the tribunal decides the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Isiguzoro, however, condemned the call, saying that the Ime-Obi had decided that Igbos should support Tinubu’s presidency until the court of competent jurisdiction says otherwise.

He emphasized the need for all stakeholders in the Igbo project to be careful of their utterances and not to portray Ndigbos as being against Tinubu because of the consequences of such actions, which would fall back on the shoulders of the Igbo populace, who are mainly traders living outside Igbo-speaking states.

Isiguzoro charged the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to accept the outcome of the presidential election in good faith and start building meaningful bridges ahead of the next election.

He called on all the group’s 52 affiliated bodies to end any agitation for the 2023 election, saying that Ndigbos had moved on. The Secretary-General emphasized the need for all Nigerians to support Tinubu’s inauguration, but that does not stop them from doing their work.

Ohanaeze is cautioning all those using the Igbo platform to allow the court to do justice, as the group has nothing to lose.

Isiguzoro said the organization would not allow some elements to pitch Igbos against the President-elect.

He added that the position of Ohanaeze is clear; they would continue to support whoever INEC declares as the president, with the full backing of the Igbo governors and Rivers State.

Ohanaeze is calling on those agitating for an interim government to drop it, as it is satanic and does not represent the interest of Ndigbos.
