Yemi Adaramodu (APC, Ekiti South), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth and Community Engagement, has stated that the recently passed National Youths Service Corps Trust Fund Bill will create employment opportunities for graduates.
Adaramodu revealed this information when he headed a delegation from the committee on an official visit to the Oyo State NYSC Orientation Camp in Iseyin, which took place on Saturday.
He stated that the bill has passed through its first and second readings, along with other necessary steps in the legislative process. He mentioned that it will be sent to the President for approval soon.
The lawmaker stated that the purpose of including a provision in the bill was to ensure corps members receive support and guidance through training acquired from the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.
He added that the provisions of the bill also cater to corps members who may wish to go into business after their service year.
In his statement: “The issue of unemployment and what next for corps members after the service year will be a thing of the past soon. The bill will ensure that the dreams of every Nigerian graduate become a reality”.
Adaramodu disclosed that the Senate, in collaboration with relevant government departments, agencies and other stakeholders will soon work on an upward review of corps members’ allowances. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
