Banky W, the Nigerian singer and aspiring House of Rep member Bankole Wellington, has urged the Federal Government to make the National Youth Service Corps scheme an optional one because half of young people don’t need it.
Banky W stated this in an interview today, 19th of April, 202.
However advised that it shouldn’t be compulsory anymore and stated in question that is the scheme achieving what it was meant to?
According to him, “At least half of the young people who do NYSC might not need it. You have people that go for NYSC and they just sign a paper somewhere and give somebody money, so that they say they have it and then go off and do whatever.
The Nigerian Singer further asked, “Is that program really achieving what it was meant to?
“Can we consider amending the constitution so that we can say that this thing is no longer compulsory, it is optional?”
Recall that Banky W is aspiring for the post of House of Representatives in the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos State.
