NYSC Reopens Borno Camp After 13-Year Closure Due to Boko Haram

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the reopening of its orientation camp in Borno State on Monday.

The NYSC camp in the state had been shut down for more than thirteen years due to frequent Boko Haram attacks in the area.

During this period, corps members assigned to Borno State underwent their orientation in Katsina State.

In preparation for the upcoming deployment of corps members on August 18, 2023, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State command, ML Yusuf, visited the new orientation camp situated at Arabic Teachers College in Maiduguri to assess the security situation.

He stated, “This will help us determine the necessary measures to ensure a peaceful orientation, which is set to commence on August 18, 2023.”

The visit of the CP marked a significant step towards restoring peace in the state after the camp’s closure for thirteen years.

During the visit, the CP held discussions with the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Tijjani Bukar, and the state coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Mohammed Jiya Adamu, to ensure a smooth and trouble-free camping experience.
