The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) detained Mallam Nura Suleiman, a 43-year-old Islamic instructor, in a troubling event that happened in Suleja, Niger State.
The suspect was arrested in Suleja Local Government Area after he was accused of abusing a three-year-old student named Isah Muaazu.
In a statement made public by the NSCDC’s public relations officer in Minna, Nasir D. Abdullahi, operatives conducted normal monitoring and during which the suspect was arrested based on reliable intelligence.
After a more thorough investigation, it was discovered that four additional children in Suleiman’s care—Khalipha Abdullahi, Salihu Suleiman, Mohammed Mu’azu, and Ismaila Abdullahi—all from Kawo, Kaduna State, had wounds on their backs that may have been caused by torture.
According to the statement: ” The teacher was arrested on Friday, 19th January 2024 in Tsangaya Makaranta Mallam Umar, located behind Niger Motel, Suleja, Niger State and the victims were rescued as well.
“The molested child, Isah Mu’azu, from Kawo, Kaduna State, was rushed to the General Hospital Suleja, for urgent medical attention following the degree of injuries observed on his body and was admitted based on the magnitude of the injuries sustained.”
The suspect and the rescued victims were immediately turned over by the NSCDC to the Niger State Child Rights Agency for additional investigation and potential legal action. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
