Nollywood star Timini Egbuson has shared a profound personal regret, revealing that his intense drive for career and financial success cost him a relationship he believes was with his soulmate.
In a recent interview, the actor reflected on a past relationship that ended not because of conflict, but because of his absence. He explained that at the time, he equated love with financial provision, believing his partner should understand his need to work relentlessly to build a future.
However, his focus on “putting food on the table” ultimately pushed her away. She later married another man who could offer the presence and attention Timini could not. “I’m convinced that she was my soulmate,” he said, describing the loss as one of his deepest regrets.
While he still values financial stability, Timini now recognises money is just one component of a healthy relationship. “Money is just one out of many things that matter,” he stated.
He emphasized the critical role of emotional availability listening attentively, remembering important details, being physically and mentally present, and taking a genuine interest in a partner’s life. He warned that a relationship centred solely on money can attract the wrong people and even distort a partner’s expectations.
“If all you can bring to a relationship is money, then you’re a very shallow man,” he concluded.
The actor also admitted that poor communication and selfishness contributed to his past relational failures. He noted that he has since undertaken significant personal growth, learning the importance of self-reflection and taking accountability for his actions.
