NLC boycotts meeting with Labour minister, TUC opts out of warning strike, says its time not ripe

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday evening, boycotted a meeting called by the team of federal government to discuss issues around the proposed two-day warning strike slated to commence on Tuesday, 5th of September, 2023.

Simon Lalong, who’s meeting was convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, earlier appealed to the organised labour to selve the impending strike.

Already, many of the affiliate groups of the NLC have concluded mobilisation process ahead of the warning strike including Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by its national president, Festus Osifo, however attended the closed-door meeting with the Federal government.

Last week, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) announced plans to embark on a two-day warning strike beginning on Tuesday, September 5, in protest against the Federal Government’s failure to address the challenges being faced by Nigerians over the fuel subsidy removal. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
